A New Look For Our Blog
We decided to try out a new design for the blog that better incorporates our logo color and font. Part of this change stems from the ongoing development of our website and the clean, minimalist design that has emerged after lots of brainstorming and refinement of ideas. One thing we have been thinking about is whether or not to integrate the blog into the website, or, keep it separate. It's already setup as a subdomain of coveredbridgecellars.com, which, for SEO purposes means it's viewed as a separate site by Google. But since the content is about our business we are leaning toward integrating it into our site, which means this design could change again--albeit slightly. One issues that poses a few challenges is that our main website is going to be a one-column layout with horizontal navigation, while the blog is two columns. Either way there a few different ways we can proceed with this. We're still thinking things through and will keep playing with the pieces of the puzzle until the right model emerges. So what do you think of the design? Do we integrate, or, keep it separate?

Jeremy, I like the new blog look. As for keeping it separate or integrating with the main site... this is something I've debated myself. Though nothing is set in stone, I've decided to go separate for two main reasons. First, blogging software offers features that would be difficult to integrate into the company website. Second, I want to keep the blog as a personal journal, where I can talk pretty much about anything. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be the right choice for you. All the best, Marco.

Hey Marco, thanks for the comment. One of the other things I'm working on is migrating the blog over to our own hosted Wordpress blog, doing so will allow for seamless integration into the website--if we so choose--while keeping all the blog features intact. You make a good point about being able to talk about other topics and that is a key reason one would keep it separate. SEO issues come into play here too with sub-domains vs. sub directories, and really the entire process is a lot more involved than I would have thought at first glance. If I come across some good resources on this topic I'll forward them along to you.
Also, I like your website landing page, especially having the contact us and sign-up links live even though the rest of the site is not. Talk soon.
